Tree Time

It's December 1st and its Tree Time! There's no point in waiting for me, come the first of the festive month i'm off buying our Christmas tree. I need to get max use out of those baubles and enjoy every twinkly moment. So off we trekked early Saturday morning to Homebase. They had lots of lovely new shiny baubles and candy canes and little toadstools and glitter stars, all of which we bought in copious amounts but a 8-9ft Nordman tree was not. Disappointed we headed to Notting Hill to see if Pines & Needles had anything. Phin and Mini went into the van and even checked to see whether there was anything. No. What were we to do? We waited until after lunch and apparently one had been found, but it turned out to be long and skinny. Possibly good for a supermodel, not for our tree. So we ended splurging a rather hefty amount on a ten foot full figured lady. And she was well worth it.

We finally found our tree

Tree Hugger

What is it with boys? They have to climb everything

Phin does some great helping in his JCrew lumberjack jacket

I love this gold glitter acorn bell i bought from the V&A, and the little robin red breast, my favourite bird

Our theme as you can see is red, white, silver and smattering of gold. Its getting more twee with every year.

Instead of hanging our glitter snowflakes i place them in the tree. I love our snowy owl (hijacked from the Preston nuptials)

Glitter Bow

You can tell where Mini got busy decorating, she likes to group her baubles in fours

Feather and glass confection which dates pre-kids. its up high and out of reach. But i feel i need to buy more special pieces, there are just too many shatterproof ones which ultimately lack charm
Close up - there are candy canes, poinsettias and even little red bows tied to the branches (left over from the crackers one year)

The Final tree. I'm so proud. Good team work B-E family, we've added faux candles and strings of pearls like i had in Germany as a child. Its full to the brim, just the way it should be. Heaven.
